The Golf team of Catalonia won in Guadalajara

The selection of catalonia won its second award in the Infantile Interterritorial Tournament which took place in the Golf Club of Cabanillas del Campo (Guadalajara). The team of catalonia reached the final after beating the Basque Country selection with the score of 3.5 to 1.5. At the mean time, Castilla-La Mancha ended the tournament at the eleventh position, in one of the last championship of the year. In addition, the Golf club of Cabanillas del Campo is already preparing its new teams league for 2006 in which all members of the club could take part. The competition will be divided in two categories, in function of the players'handicap, and the teams will be formed by four members and one player of substitution. The inscription term for the tournament will end the following tuesday and the fee amounts to sixty euros per team.

Plata wears blue in the Club de Campo.

Paulino Plata, Councillor of Tourism, Trade and Sport of the Assembly of Andalusia, received a warm tribute in the Real Club de Campo of Málaga yesterday.Paulino PlataThanks to his support to Golf world. Plata picked up his third “Jacket of Honor” from President of the Club, Manuel Villalba. Prize winnings from former editions: Ana Belén Sanchez (2003) player of the Women European Circuit and Miguel Ángel Jiménez (2004), assisted to the prize presentation and enjoyed the great atmosphere with all assistants. 250 golf lovers attended to the launch, but Plata was the center of attention because of his achievement at the head of the Tourism Council of the Asseembly of Andalusia. “Golf is not a problem, it is an opportunity” said Villalba, few minutes before giving the “Jacket” to Paulino Plata. These words are a reflection of the reasons the club decided to pay tribute to Paulino Plata.

“I would like to thank this celebration. I have been playing golf for three years and I am just a begginer. Golf is an important sport which grips you and forces you to be modest. We have to promote it and take advantage of it”, affirmed Plata. “The couple tourism-golf is good to Andalusia. We need more and better golf courses and we are working to gain an international recognition to this sport from the Council”.

Benicassim Golf, at least.

Town councillor, Mª Carmen Asin, gives her favourable vote yesterday to build this urban programme. The meeting lasted three hours and the decision put the end of a more than 7 years debate. The project is about a construction of almost 2.100.000 m2 of the Cuadro de Santiago area.

Vacant posts in the National Center Golf School for the II Golf Classes.

The inscription period for new players begins on 19th of December.

Once the update for registered players in the first Golf class is over, the National Center Golf School offers 72 vancant posts.
The distribution of these posts is the following way:

176 posts for adults between monday and friday
71 posts for adults on weekends
25 posts for children under 16 (only on weekends)

The cost of the class is 144€ for adults and 84€ for children. This amount must be payed when the inscription is signed. The price includes club loan for classes, but not the balls, except for children.

The course consists on 12 classes of 50 minutes each one, at the rate of one class per week. The beginning of the course is on 9th january of 2006 and it will end twelve weeks after.

Gran Canaria aspires to become the World Referent of Golf Tourism.

The president of Corporation of Gran Canaria, José Manuel Soria has declared that “the island has shown its capacity of organization and its great power to become in a World Referent of Golf tourism”.
From next monday, Gran Canaria becomes into the world capital of Golf thanks to the opening of the Congress Centre of Maspalomas to celebrate The International Golf Travel Market Exposition.
Gran Canaria Islands competed with Miami, Costa Rica and Costa Brava to be the venue of this international meeting. IGTM celebrates in Spain for the first time and, until next thursday, will collect more than 1000 professional businessmen from 50 countries. This great exposition gathers about 360 display stands.

An Austrian magazine of golf will publish a report about the Costa del Sol.

The Austrian magazine specialized in Golf : “Die Golferin” will publish in its edition of March an article about the Costa del Sol as a touristic destination.

The coast of Malaga recieved the visit of the writer boss of the magazine, and she organized a circuit of several golf courses of the province, the objective was to show the facilities to practise this sport written in six pages of article. The advertising cost of this article is very important because it is a magazine which has only one edition per year in the entire country and it is sent to 45.000 players.
