The Senior Championship of Spain will remain in Catalonia until 2009.

The Senior Championship of Spain (APG)will remain in Catalonia until 2009, according to José Luis Diaz-Varela, president of Indukern Group, main sponsor of the tournament.

The fifth edition of this championship, which will be played under the category of “medalplay”, with 54 holes and without break, will take place from the 3rd to 5th of May in the Golf Club of Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona) and will award prizes amounting to 45.800€.

This is a new opportunity to test the play of the best Spanish veteran players, such as Manuel Piñero, Antonio Garrido, Pepín Rivero or Juan Quirós, who compete to supplant Emilio Rodriguez, the defender of the title.

Furthermore, like in the previous years, there will be a category “Supersenior” for players older than 60 years, which title is defended once more by Antonio Garrido.

Best amateur golfers compete in V Aifos Golf Tournament.

The championship starts on the Doña Julia Golf course and will take end in Valderrama Golf Club in the middle of February.

The best national and international amateur golfers participate in a tournament which has become an important event in the competition calendar of golf. The tournament, started on the 3rd of February and will assemble six hundred golf players invited by Aifos. These players come from all the Spanish provinces, as well as there are players coming from United Kingdom, Ireland and Germany.

Aifos Spanish Property, the promoter of the event, will give prizes to participatns: First three partners will be awarded by a silver cup, as well as first quality sport material to practise golf.
Jenaro Briales, general manager of Aifos, has confirmed the importance of the Aifos Golf Tournament to the touristy and residential industry of the Costa del Sol, assuring that “Golf is one of the greatest offers of the Costa del Sol, that is why the organization of this tournament helps to consolidate the offer of Malaga and to promote this province as a holidays and residential destination”.

Feminine tournament opens the golf competition calendar of Guara.

Guara Golf celebrates for twice the Fiesta of Santa Agueda. In one hand organized a tournament to award the feminine players of the Club; and in the other hand, Guara Golf start the club competition calendar.

Carlos Quevedo, professional golf placer

Carlos Quevedo, professional golf placer: “this season I will fight again to access to European Tour”.
The golf professional from Gran Canaria, Carlos Quevedo will fight again this year to get the European Tour card which allows him become one of the golf elite of the old continent. Personal and professional problems stopped his aspirations last year, after a haughty season in 2004 which left him yearning for more.

Golf Club of Antequera wins in the first match of Interclub.

It has an advantage of 34 points over its rival, Laurino Golf Club. We will have to wait the return match to know who wins the first trophy between clubs.

The golf Club of Antequera has taken an advantage of 34 points in the first match of the 1st Interclub celebrated last Saturday between this team and the Laurino Golf Club. The five best partners of the club of Antequera achieved a total of 189 points against the 155 points obtained by the partners of Laurino Golf Club. The 70 golfers enjoyed a sunny morning which allows living a life together and a good play from 10 am.
The five best partners classified in the general list are from Golf Club of Antequera, while the first partner from Laurino Golf Club classified was six place in the classification. This fact allow Golf Club of Antequera holding until the return competition the trophy is at stake.

The Sports Association launches a campaign for beginner golf courses for children

The Sports Association has decided to extend their offer to young and elder people in the community. Therefore, the town council, in collaboration with “Club Campomar” will start a campaign for beginner golf courses for the little ones in town next march.

The association promotes a beginner school for children of 9 years who go to school in the center of the town. The courses will start on 7th of March and they will extend until the 31st of May. The courses are set up in sessions of an hour, each for 20 children, during all the mornings. For this, the Council will invite all the schools of Narón that are interested in participating in this sports initiative.

Chaves will scrutinize the golf courses of the Cadiz Mountains.

The president of the Andalusia Assembly visits Setenil, Olvera, Villamartín and Arcos and advises: “We are going to be strict with the environment conservation”.
The Andalusia Assembly will scrutinize all the projects of golf course forecasts in the mountains of Cadiz so that they comply with the environmental requirements that are found in the new act that regulates this type of leisure facilities.

The Spanish International Male Championship will take place in Costa Ballena (Cádiz) from the 1st until the 5th of February.

More specifically, the first modality takes place between the 1st and the 2nd February, whereas the individual competition is held between the 3rd and the 5th of the same month.

The La Arboleda golf course attracts more than 150 players per day in winter

The love for golf barely declined with the arrival of winter. The La Arboleda golf course has reduced its activities but maintains an average of 150 players per days. What affects the golf course is the bad weather contitions, which are especially harsh in the higher part of Trapagaran. In the first six months of operation, the sport area was closed for five days because of flog, rain, snow, frost and storm.
