La Cuesta golf Course and La Rasa de Berbes, pioneers of the North of the region.

The golf courses of La Cuesta, in Llanes and La Rasa de Berbes in Ribadesella, have been opened several years ago and they are an important economic factor for the region of Asturias.

The golf course of Berbes was created in 1994, and since then, its growth has not stop. Nowadays, it counts with 210 partners. “This year it has reached a mayor adquisition of partners, we think this is because of the improvement of the infrastructure”, said Luis Pablo González, president of the golf course, who announced the access to the golf course will be improved next spring, 2006. This golf course has 11 holes and it is so frequently visited in summer.

In Llanes, the Town council created the golf course in 1999, which was managed by The golf Course La Cuesta until last 1st of July. Nowadays, the Town council is who manages the golf course, although they forecast that this management will be provisional. The golf course counts with a total of 1154 players, of which 1.025 are partners. The mayority of subscribers are from Asturias, followed by Madrid, Cantabria and Vizcaya.

VI golf tournament for the Down Syndrom

Like every year, this tournament will be celebrated next saturday 26th november in Miraflores Golf Club. It is becoming a great classic in this club and each time it is getting more acceptance of the public.
This charity tournament celebrated with the support of the “Asociación Síndorme de Down de Málaga”, has the unique objective of collecting money for this organization, that makes people become more conscious of the illness and to make it more present in our society and each of its sectors.
Last year, they collected 8.000€, thanks to the Golf Club Miraflores, members and trading partners, who unselfishly contributed to the tournament and to a raffle in the awards presentation. This year, we are optimistic and we will try to exceed this amount, because it is so necessary to this organization to help the affected people.
This tournament began to collect money to integrate affected people by this syndrome in the society, to develop their capacities and to be as autonomous as possible.
The « Asociation de Sindrome de Down de Málaga » counts on this tournament, in order to find new ways to finance the association, because golf is very important in our country and this sport has a lot of fans. Finally the association is so grateful to those who unselfishly support its work.

Golf Course of Valderrama

Valderrama is a magic name in the golf’s world and a prestigious golf course that enriches the touristic offer of Andalusia. Its route was created masterly: it was designed by Robert Trent Jones and in the 17th hole has been improved by Seve Ballesteros. It provides special conditions, almost 100 bunkers and high greenes. So, the golf course has been awarded twice the best golf course of Europe.
Since 1988 the Volvo Masters is celebrated at this golf course. This event is characterized by the participation of the most outstanding players.
Jaime Ortiz Patiño is the president and has obtained holding the venue of Ryder cup 1997 at the Valderrama Golf Course. It has facilities such as club rent, buggys and a bar-restaurant. Only 92 km far away, there is the international airport of Malaga and only 15 km far away the Gibraltar one.

Sotogrande Golf Course

Sotogrande is the first golf course in Europe designed by Robert Trent Jones. It is considered one of the best 100 golf courses in the world. It has a distance of 6.224 metres and although it has large fairways and little semirough, the lakes and fast greens make this golf course a good opportunity to show the talent of the players.
As Robert Trend Jones said once: “A golf course is like a battlefield: players attack the course and the architect must defend it. Strategically placed bunkers, water hazards and rough defend the golf course".

The residential complex “Los Merinos Norte” has been approved.

The Official Gazette of the Province, confirmes the forthcoming construction of two golf courses, three five-stars hotels and 785 luxury villas, distributed in an area of about 1.000 hectares of plot in Ronda.

Antonio Marín, Mayor of Ronda, has declared “it is a great opportunity for the city, because it increases the tourism and sport offer of the province”. Furthermore, the complex will create a large offer of employment. Marín calms down to those who are worried of the possible troubles to the ecosystem which this project may cause. He insisted that “the most strict legality, including the irrigation of the facilities with recycled water” is going to be applied.
